The Queen Mary

The Queen Mary is one place worth visiting when you want to go back to those days where steam ships were the quickest and most elegant way to travel.
The Queen Mary was once a magestic luxury liner and always the first choice for the elite of high society way back 1936. This year was was her first maiden voyage as a grand ocean liner including during the war years, until she finally stopped her voayge in the year 1967. Her maiden voyage in 1936 was the grandest ocean liner ever built and made her play many roles throughout her illustrious career. Many considered her the only civilized way to travel.
She was fondly called "The Grey Ghost" when she was transformed as a troopship overnight and transported more than 800,000 troops and played a vital role in every major Allied campaign.
She finally retired and was purchased by the city of Long Beach which became a Long Beach icon for more than 40 years.

Finally, settled in Long Beach as her permanent residence, it is now a site of attraction for tourists where every visitor is welcome to explore.

Queen Mary has a very rich, colorful history, a good reason why it is worth recommending to get up close with it to give you an in-depth look at the ship's past.

There are guided tours, the best way to have if you want to make sure you will be getting the most out of your visit.
There are daytime and evening tours, so whether you are interested in history art deco design or paranormal investigations and mystery about the ship, you can choose a tour package that goes with all of them.

Full exploration tours do a lot of walking so if you think your feet are tough enough to complete your visit in a day, go! :)

There are dinings on board as well, including signature dining, casual and quick eats and special dining events. Bar and lounges are also available.

The Queen Mary is also commonly used for land filmings of both television and films, photo shoots and commercials with a filming location of more than 80,000 square feet of space with 14 Art Deco salons that are uniquely decorated with murals and original paintings, wood paneling, brass and nickel silver fixture and etched leaded glass accents.

Would you believe you can book your hotel reservations aboard the Mary Queen as well?

Trendy Hospital Scrub Uniforms

I know it is not really difficult to find hospital scrub uniforms nowadays. You can find them in most local stores but let's be practical. Nowadays, the prices mostly sold in your local department stores come too expensive, and yet you still get the same plain, boring colors and styles.

It's time to become more trendy and save more money! You can check this link; - http://www.blueskyscrubs.com/categories/Scrubs/Scrubs-for-Women/Original-Scrubs/. You would notice that most of the designs have fashionable stitchings which can make you look better, trendy and unique as well ;).

Blue Sky Scrubs are the ideal place to buy your cheap medical scrubs, yet you can be assured that they are still made of high quality handmade and finest fabrics.
Don't forget to check all the scrubs collection, too!

Balboa Park

3-19-11
Since it was early yet for the day, we decided to try going Balboa Park in El Prado, San Diego, from Gaslamp Quarter. We actually didn't know what is in the park, so that was kinda fun meeting the unexpected! :).

So, the first thing we saw was the Museum of Man which we went into after finding a car park. We had an hour left to tour around before they close, so we managed to see those that we wanted to see.
It was almost 5pm. so that all the museums were closing. We just opted to visit some gardens there instead and managed to click some few shots. We forgot to bring our tripod so we had to do the usual "alternate poses" for me and the hubby ;).

I got fascinated by one of the trees located on one side of a corridor. (What's the name of this tree?) I thought it was like a tree with fake branches, but it's real! So, I thought it would be great to have some shot with me in it, lol!

That ended our last day in CA.

Getting Aboard Carnival Destiny

July 21, 2011

So, after reaching Port of Miami, we got off the Cabana Coaches bus and from there, we were greeted by porters. Of course, every personal service you get, there is always corresponding "tips" that should be set aside, because these people rely much on tips. That is one important aspect to think about when you go on a cruise ;). I am sure cruisers are being highly informed about the "tips" stuff. So, it is always a good thing to set aside tips for any extra services you might be needing, even if you would rather want to do and carry your own luggages. I mean guys, it's always worth fulfilling to become a little bit generous for people who are always willing to do personal assistance sometimes, right? :)

Anyway, we then gave our 2 luggages to the porter and inform him our cabin number and gave him a tip as well.

We then went to the security lines for the boarding. We presented our boarding pass then went through all the way to the cruise line security check-in inside. There are 3 security check-ins you have to go through! First is the checking in through the security x-rays, like the one they have in the airports. Second, will be the cruise security check in like that in the hotels where they will give you your cabin room keys or they call it your Sail & Sign Card. Your key is also used to pay any extra charges you may have such as drinks, photos, shore excursions, laundry services..etc. It means you don't need to carry cash while you are in the ship. It is your "boarding pass" and "credit card" in-one! So, hold that key tight! It's your lifeline..lol. In this area would be a little bit detailed where you have to present every document you have. It was a good thing to note that they have these booth machines where you can scan your passports for identification and prepay everything through your credit card and doing all the confirmation stuff. It's just like you have to guarantee that everything are fully paid before you go aboard the ship!

Around 3:30pm, a bell sound will be heard and instructions will be announced that all passengers must proceed to their assigned muster stations. In every cabin, there is an assigned muster station which is also printed on your Sail & Sign Card (room key).
This is where you will be briefed about safety procedures, like how you operate a life jacket, etc...
Gosh! we were all packed like sardines in that area! It was like taking forever to get all the passengers in the muster station and it was so hot out there. Perhaps, it was like 45 minutes to get all the passengers complete the station, and 20 minutes briefing! Whew! Now, that was not the part you would want to enjoy! But policy is a policy! You need to comply, or you would be thrown out of the sea...lolz..just kidding!
Well, that was challenging, but the rest are all fun.

We did a short tour going up the Lido deck where every sort of fun is being done. I guess this was what they called "Party Till Sunset". A little bit of a crowd, because there are some minor shows and the pool is just on the same deck. So, there were audience and participants in the shows and there are swimmers and sun tanning sessions beside the pool. There is also a food corner in one area where you can sit down and eat...that is if you can bear the heat during the day. {Vs}
Expect the noise! That's party fun!

After eating dinner, we went to watch the "Welcome Aboard Show" presented by the cruise director himself at the Palladium Lounge. He is called "Noonan" :).
The show was spectacular with live music provided by The Destiny Showband and The Destiny Dancers. Singers are very good as well.
The show is strictly for your eyes only...no cameras, videos or audios allowed. Watch out, there will be an "extra eye" looking for you once you click that camera, and you will be reprimanded. Hhhmmmm!! I think I got some clips in some other shows..(hush!)

The next day will be our first shore excursion...Key West! So, we went to bed around 10pm!

Cash Store Title Loans

When it comes to having a certain "guardian angel" in your need for money, there are a lot of title loans that can help you with your financial needs. The only thing that you have to be aware and be sure of is as to where or whom will you gonna be getting that money without you getting highly at risk of becoming a victim in the end.

It is not hard to find one nowadays, but choosing the right lending or loan company is all that matters. A company that is trustworthy, that has a good background and long experience and offers competitive rates with credible service commitments are important things to consider.

Cash Store can be a good place to check if you are trying to apply for car title loans wherein you get the money you need by borrowing against the value of the car that you own with a free and clear title in your name.
Here, you can get a title loan which can be a great lending option to get up to an amount of $25,000 fast!
By the way, take note that there are title loans only available at limited states. It is very easy to get in touch with them if you want to apply online. You can also call them at 1-888-950-2274 for further inquiries.

Black Belt

Guest post from: Natalie Walter

I started taking tae kwon do after I was inspired by a television special on women’s personal safety. I debated which self-defense style would be the best for me. I decided to do some research on the different classes in the area. At the dojo that I joined, they had a women’s only class. I have made many new friends over the last couple of years in tae kwon do class. We do the traditional moves and belting, but our instructor also integrates specific self-defense techniques for women in each meeting. I will be doing my black belt testing in two months and I couldn’t be more proud! I feel like my self-discipline and confidence has increased. My instructor must think I’m a great pupil because he asked me to help him teach a self-defense and personal safety class. He wants to integrate personal and home safety tips. My first assignment is to research home security information for the third class. I am excited and think that other women will enjoy and find the program helpful. Hopefully, by the first class I will have a black belt!

Cruise Southern Land

I mentioned in one of my posts here how I felt about our Caribbean cruise experience few weeks ago. And I really can tell that it is one of the most unforgettable trips I would never forget. So, if I would be asked again for another cruising experience, for sure I would say yes over and over again ;).

Glad to know I was able to check Cruceros Australis online about their cruise packages. I would love to have another cruising experience and it must be interesting to check on some places to visit in Chile. I haven't been to that part of the world, and I would be quite happy to join Chile tours if I would be given the chance out from my super crazy schedule! It would actually be a good R & R from a busy work, you know.

I also haven't heard about the patagonia tours yet. It must be awesome if ever I can get on a cruise visiting Patagonia. I love looking at those photos, so how much more if I would be seeing the real views and sceneries! I love seeing the beauty of nature, the ice, animals, the colorful leaves of autumn, etc..
This is something worth looking forward too! Maybe someday, for sure I will be able to hop on the cruise ship one more time and get another unforgettable experience of a lifetime.

Our Hemingway House Tour

July 22, 2011

Our Hemingway House tour started at 9:30am today where our tour guide "Jeff" met us at the pier. We already had our tickets given earlier by Carnival the day before the tour, so it wasn't a problem getting them. It is also worth recommending to pay the tour earlier online for convenience. That way, you don't need to spend your time going to the Excursion Tour Desk in the ship and wait in line.
By the way, Carnival Destiny is a big ship and for 3 days, I still keep getting lost! LOL! There are the elevators to help you get to your deck but I still couldn't figure out which elevators would take me to the nearest block going to my cabin. I would still end up walking 3-4 blocks (which is like 2 miles to me) since our cabin is located almost on the end of the block {sigh!}.

Anyway, back to the tour...we have to walk 1.5 miles until we reach the Hemingway House! Going back is another 1.5 miles...so that's 3 miles!!
Tough one for the walking, am not used to long walks, but I guess I can survive with some small stops in between.
We didn't have any water with us so we just drop by at a convenience store we happened to be passing through during the tour and bought a bottled water quick. We both were thirsty. Imagine, it was too hot this day! And hubby started to sweat like crazy!...non-stop! Whew!

During the tour, we passed the Little White House, and some other attractions where our tour guide told some basic information about them. I started to get bored and impatient and keep asking in my mind how long more before we can reach the house, lol!

At last, upon reaching Hemingway, we were toured around by another tour guide and at last, I can see the cats! :)) Ernest Hemingway was fond of cats and there are 45 cats in the house. I only saw a few of them, but the interesting part is that most of them are 6-toed cats! I took one shot of one of the cats with a 6-toe...then, I saw princess , and Harry, the alpha male cat. There is also Charlie Chaplin who happened to be sleeping! Mind you he looks like Chaplin with that black mustache on top of his nose, lol! Those are the ones I can only remember. There are a lot of them there!

We also went to a pub/club that has some intriguing and interesting decorations on its ceilings! Bras and panties!!!! LOL! I haven't been listening to what Jeff was telling about this pub because I am starting to get tired and thirsty! My hubby seemed to notice it.
Our tour ended up at the pub, then we got our soda drinks with looooots of ice!!!
Key West is really beautiful. There are lots of places to go to. If you like to shop, there are some boutiques. The neighborhood is somewhat like my country the Philippines in one aspect...you can see a lot of strayed chickens and roosters crowing at the middle of a hot day, lol! Actually, you don't need a guided tour to go around the place. You can go at your own pace, but if you are on a cruise, avoid getting lost, and be sure to get boarded on the ship before it departs because the ship won't wait for you.

Our day at Key West ended up with a vanilla ice cream before we went back to the ship! Still, it was a hot, sunny but fun day!

Machu Picchu Travel & Tours

I always want to visit incas and ruins. This is one of the reasons why when we had the Caribbean cruise, I chose to go to the tour where we visited the ruins in Cozumel, Mexico. The place was not really a big one, though. So, I am still aiming of visiting other inca sites and ruins such as those in Machu Picchu.

I have heard about this place from my husband's cousin who will be staying in Bolivia for a little while. We were actually planning a trip to visit her someday and she told us we can plan a trip itinerary to visit Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu Tours are actually interesting to know. I am glad I saw this resourceful and helpful website that specializes in personalized excursions. This is good for planning itineraries ahead, and since I travel a lot with my husband, I can't wait to plan ahead and someday can get a good schedule for another pleasure vacation to Machu Picchu.

I was reading all the reviews and exepriences of other travelers on their blog, and they seem to be worth seeing in any way! I love to take photos on inca ruins. For me, they are one of the most unique experiences you can have where you will feel like you stepped back in time of the inca's world while you are stepping your feet on the grounds of an ancient civilization many hundreds of years ago.

Machu Picchu is definitely one of the trips I am looking forward to.

Spare Batteries For Travel Is A Must!

I travel a lot, and several of the most important things I can't leave without them are my gadgets. Although I pretty much am confident that my Ipad and bluetooth keyboard don't need one, I do always have concerns about getting some spare cell phone batteries ideal for a long trip. It's always good to have back ups. I had a bad experience in one of my trips where I forgot to charge my cell phone and I was in the middle of a tour. Ugh! That was not a good experience. I use my cell phone to take pictures which is always handy than a bulky camera in hand. .
Glad to know there is a battery store online where I can find the best deals on batteries. And guess what, they have them and if only I have known way back earlier before about this, I should have gotten my spare batteries and saved them. Anyway, I am actually bookmarking the site, and also worth recommending to friends I know who frequents the road most often. ;)

Battery Mart is a one stop shop online store for discount batteries. Who doesn't want instant savings, right? Plus, it will be worth your money to shop online and get a free ground shipping as well.

Hope you got your spare batteries! It is always a smart habit to be always prepared.

Trucking Jobs

When it comes to truck driving jobs, they mean serious business. And giving high quality transportation solutions greatly helps in making shippers or motor carriers get the job done in a faster and more accurate manner.
Being in the trucking industry is I bet a business full of tough challenges. No wonder why Trucking Partners became successful on what it is until today. You can probably say, thanks for the ingenuity of Mr. Dwayne Hood, the owner who has been considered as an expert in the trucking transportation industry with a 30 years expertise in his own career. It gave him the the true hands-on experience in the fields of Sales, Operations, pricing and billing, contracting, fleet maintenance and more.

And take note, drivers wanted for those who are looking for trucking jobs. Check them out with Trucking Partners about the placement service to drivers who are willing to do jobs with one of its "select" carriers which is at no cost to drivers.

The carriers this company has been representing for trucker jobs have proven themselves to be trustworthy and reliable partners. Although it never meant to be a smooth road all the time, minor problems are always done in a smoother way. Ironing the kinks is always a high expectation ahead, making them ever used to facing tough challenges every time.

It's time to give your trust to Trucking Partners. You'll never regret.

The Trip Going To The Port (Going Caribbean)

July 21, 2011

We started our day rather early today for our flight going to Fort lauderdale (Florida) from Baltimore Washington International Airport (BWI). A 6-hour flight, that is to include our lay over and connecting flight is no joke!
Anyway, we survived the long flight! Yehey! I also consider our connecting flight "an angel" because we were treated so well with the food and drinks and got a good comfy seats too ;). That's what should a first class seat for, lol!

A Carnival employee picked us up at the airport and took us to board a bus (Cabana Coaches) going to Port of Miami where the ship is. It was a 40-minute drive going there and thank God, traffic wasn't bad. It can usually take a drive at least an hour or more if the traffic is really bad.

We arrived at the port around 2-ish pm, and settled our luggages with the porter to be delivered right to our cabin in the ship, then proceeded to the security area and managed our paper works and all! It was done in a breeze, so far! Thank God for early preps and complete documents ;).

I still feel groggy due to lack of sleep. You know, I am not a morning person, and I need to get my usual dose before I get a headache. So, after settling in to our cabin, we thought of getting a snooze before we start to eat, hahaha!
By the way, we have an awesome view of the ocean in our cabin with an outside deck too! I and hubby love it! ;)

Home Protection & Complete Entertainment

A home that is safe and secure gives us peace of mind and comfortable feeling especially now that many crimes are being committed by many people robbing homes and even commit murders where victims die in their own homes.

Nowadays not many home security companies can offer complete features. Take for example the home security russellville, where ADT home security can also be the best monitoring system for your home against floods, fires and even some accidents of your loved one who is too helpless to get help.

Another thing is after a serious consideration for the security of your home, there's no other best thing to get for home entertainment other than Direct TV. Take note, football season is here! And if you are a football fan, you can't just afford to miss every game in the match, right?

Then, it makes you, what an awesome feeling to stay in a safe and secure home with a good entertainment to enjoy! {wink}.
