French Quarter Self-Guided Walking Tour (Part 2) - A Repost

I became curious about Moonwalk, so we moved further until we reached Cafe du Monde. It’s a french coffee shop, so without a word, hubby was pulling me going inside and we ended up ordering a coffee and 6 pieces of beignets. He told me this is a famous coffee shop and well liked by almost anybody who would taste their french donuts (beignets) as well as the coffee. My hubby is a coffee lover, so I won’t wonder. I tried getting an ice decaf coffee and it’s sooo bitter…hehehe.

Hubby with the beignets (ben-yeys). He loves eating them. I ate one he ate five..lol!

We spent few minutes sitting on the bench along moonwalk park. The park faces the Missisipi River, it’s kinda like Manila Bay.

Below is a photo overlooking the Mississipi River.

There are some spots where you can relax along moonwalk overlooking the bay. Be sure to take an extra jacket with you. It's cool and breezy out there not unless you're in the summer time with the heat at its peak.

French Quarter Self-Guided Walking Tour(Part 1) - A Repost

December 5, 2007

We did a short walking tour this afternoon at French Quarter here in New Orleans, Louisiana. And yes, so far this is the only state I’ve been so far with banana trees well growing in the coming winter :))

Other photos taken of me while walking along the street are below. New Orleans is well known for its jazzy music where many musicians play on the city streets. These people have great musical talents, but I’m just wondering if they can live with just a meager income in doing these…

Notice the balcony on top of the building? These are widely seen when you walk on the streets. I think this became popular because of the famous mardi gras celebration that they usually do. There are several designs of it which make them fancy to look at. There’s not much to see on the sidestreets though, except for some antique collection shops, galleries, etc…

Notice this guy? This is not a statue. At a first glance you would think he is a statue. It was funny when I just went close to him and it startled me when I saw his eyes moving, lol! Then, I analyzed he is a real human being trapped in a statues’ body!!! hahaha…that’s what he does for living.

Auto Body Shops

Auto collision damages can be very expensive. So, be smart in finding one online to get the best estimates and therefore you can save more, right? If you are California-based, you can find local auto body shops online such as collision repair bellflower - Estorga's Collision Repair, located in Long Beach. They are considered to be a collision repair expert. Having a good record of costumer service makes them highly in demand to customers in need. Get to meet them to see it for yourself :).

Sears Tower Skydeck - Come View The World!

We did our tour going to Sears Tower Friday morning. (August 29, '08) The line was not long so we thought we can just get our tickets quick. We add some extra amount for our audio tour. It's not recommended to get the audio tour. It's just a given option. It was offered, so we got it :).

There is short movie about the Sears Tower before you go up, but again, it's an option for you whether to watch it or not. We chose to watch it. A little bit of history always helps.

Going up is through elevators that move as fast as 1,600 feet (488 meters) per minute. You will be reaching hundredth? floor. I had a hard time recalling what floor were we! LOL!

Anyway, once you're on top, there will be 4 viewing spots; South, East, North and West Wings. When you are doing the audio tour, you can get a lot of good historical backgrounds of the buildings and landmarks surrounding it.

While it is no longer the tallest building in the world, it remains one of the true wonders of the modern world and the only way to get to the top of it is The Sears Tower Skydeck!

Hop in the elevators and get up there....view the world. I did! ;)

Trace Those Calls...

Are you constanly annoyed by telemarketers or prankster calls? I do, and I got tons of them almost daily :(. My phone is not capable of tracing calls particularly if calls always reflect as "unknown". Sometimes, I couldn't be sure if those calls are from my family out of the country or just plain telemarketers hiding their identity.
Well, I'm considering having a reverse phone search added on my phone. Glad to know there's phoneinfotracer.com. This might be helpful most importantly to those who receive prankster calls. It's perhaps one way to gather someone's hidden identity information. Of course, we always wanted to be secure even by just simply using our persona, private gadgets, - our phones. Reverse phone lookups for example, are helpful when you're wondering whose calls did you miss. Check on their area of coverage, and they got all of it!

A short visit to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

This was an unexpected itinerary because our cousins just decided to go there at the spur of the moment. It was like an hour drive from Kenosha where the Bristol Renaissance Faire was. Although the drive was longer, it was a scenic drive, passing through a countryside. How I wish I captured photos along the way, but I was somewhat tired from the long walk from the Renaissance Faire. I was glad hubby didn't doze off while driving as well. I guess we both enjoyed the view ;).

Lake Geneva is stunning. We tried to catch up for the boat tour, but we missed the last trip (5pm). There are so much things to do there, as there are shops, restaurants, parks and charter/boat tours. We are looking forward we can go back there for more sightseeings. Love the place! It's always been so good to be with family relatives as well.

Reducing The Natural Effects of Aging

In today's modern world where busy men and women seems to be, skin is always the number one part of a human body being exposed to stress. The main reason why many of us should be aware of early skin symptoms of aging. And if there is one person who had gone a long way in helping reduce the natural effects of aging, the good works came from Dr. Chantal Burnison with the help of her Chantal Pharmaceuticals, which now carry the skin-rejuvenating molecule called Ethocyn. Tru Face Essence is a new product that is being carried by Nu Skin company. This product has an ethocyn in it which contains fibroblast cells that makes elastin. According to Dr. Burnison, our skin contains elastin that has the ability to stretch and snaps back into shape like a rubber band. The older we get, the elastin that our skin produces decreases. In this case, we produce wrinkled skin that is caused by fast aging process.
With a regular use of Tru Essence, it helps slow down the aging process.
There is no other skin care product in the world that can increase your skin's important elastin fiber content and quality compared to that of a 20 year old skin...only ethocyn can :). Ethocyn is medically proven and considered to be the medically published breakthrough ingredient. get the facts and try it today!

Travel Updates

I'm guilty of being delayed in my posts these days. We just came from our wonderful trip in Illinois with my family. We did a side trip going to Wisconsin as well and visited Lake Geneva and the Renaissance Faire in Kenosha which only was until September 1. We were lucky to visit the faire and it was full of fun!

We also are glad to announce that our upcoming trip will be next month and this time it will be in Boston. It will be cooler up there since it will be an early fall. But we always look forward for a nice weather.

Space Needle in Seattle is one of the biggest landmarks in the city. It is considered as the prime spot of sightseeing. Going to the top takes 43 seconds through an elevator to the observation deck. The deck is as high as 520 feet from which you can see the Elliot Bay, Downtown Seattle, Mount Rainier and the Cascades, as well as the Islands in the sound and the Olympics beyond.Telescopes are as well available for zooming in sights that are far to see. The deck is a 360 degrees view so you get all the chance to view the North, South, West and East wings. Food is abundant up there as they have restaurants and food shops on the deck, and the souvenir shops are located at the ground floor before you take your exit from the top.

Are you getting ready to travel this summer?

I travel a lot and I am probably one of those witnesses in which today, many airlines do not provide blankets and pillows inside the plane anymore. Domestic flights as well as international flights which are even longer trips mostly don't offer blankets and pillows, not unless perhaps it is urgently requested.
When I saw about the Cabin Cuddler, I thought of it as worth posting and since I travel a lot, I am thinking of considering this in buying it...why not? I am thinking I can use it when I will travel back home to the Philippines. Just imagine yourself without something else to cover your body for 14 long hours on that plane? That's horrible!
For just an affordable price, Cabin Cuddler is a 6-in-1 travel blanket and pillow made from hypo allergenic material and has an inflatable pillow that can be easily blown up as a balloon. It also has a foot pocket and shoulder wrap that keeps the body warm, just perfect for airplane or car trips or just for home use. Good thing to think about when having this is that you don't need to worry about sanitary issues becuse you own it ;).
Here's the good catch. If you buy two or more items, you can avail of the free shipping service if you either live in the US, Hawaii and Alaska. Grab one now!

Our Short Trip To Camden, New Jersey

June 9, 2008 -

This was actually an unexpected trip when we were in Philadelphia. Since hubby was free the entire afternoon, we jut realized we were close to New Jersey (Camden) which was 20 minutes away from Philadelphia.

The Camden Waterfront, overlooking the Philadelphia on the other side.

We went to Camden Waterfront where the Adventure Aquarium was. There were some shows worth watching we saw at IMAX theater there so we went. We didn't have much time to go around the aquarium. We were amused with the sleeping hippos, so that was the only poses we got ;).

There you go, in a matter of a short trip to the next neighborhood state, it was worth it ;).

It's hot outside, your car should be cold.

I know how it feels to be driving with no AC in the car. Well, our old car (now gone), used to. When the AC is turned on, the car overheats. I don't know why but that car really needed an overhaul :). Don't wait for that to happen. AC is very vital during summer days, right? If your car needs Air conditioning compressor, there is a complete one stop shop for all your AC needs...1aiconditioning.com. Feel free to visit them and avail of their free shipping service.

Museum of Glass, Tacoma, WA

Location:
The Museum of Glass is located in downtown Tacoma at 1801 Dock Street, Tacoma, WA 98402. If you have your own car and have your own GPS system, it's much easier to go there.

If you love glass art, you might want to visit the Hot Shop and witness the art of live glassmaking. Take note that there are specific Hot Shop hours available.

For us, we missed the show since we arrived at the museum past the time it was held.

The Hot Shop Amphitheater - is made of 90-ft.tall stainless steel cone, 100ft. in diameter at its base and narrows to a 15 ft. opening.

The Arts (Glass Blowing):

Underground Tour, Seatte

The tour starts with the introduction about the early history of Seattle as related by a well-versed historian tour host. The story is injected with some humor so you don't get bored :).

This tour has actually become one of the most famous talked-about attractions in Seattle.

I am not good in pretty remembering historic details, but to share you the basic idea about the tour, it's a place where you go under the ground (used to be an old city) below the current city of Seattle.

Of course, after the tour, you'll be taken to the exit passing by a gift shop, with a mini-museum that displays old artifacts used in the old days while the old city was still standing.
An old gown used to be worn by upper class women

What a fancy toilet bowl during those days :)

Caring Is Sharing

For a woman particularly in the prime of her life, it must be tough to think about the idea of the possibility of facing a serious illness in the future, or even the worst, - an idea that is not readily comes into mind to talk about. The fact that today, we are facing a difficult economy and we are on the road where tough and difficult problems meet us along the way, we tend to avoid everything that is worth planning for the future.
Take for example the people's health; - you, me, your family and loved ones, friends. We seem to hate talking about it, much more worst if it involves a life-threatening illness that strikes us. As a result, most of us would tend to avoid and forget about it, and never plan thinking about our health's future.
Let's face it, we are living in the modern age, where medical researches and technologies are getting more advanced.
Maybe it's time to know more about this revolutionary stem cell research and technology by C'elle. Perhaps, this topic might be controversial to many, or maybe sensitive to some, but hey, - we're talking about the possible good results of protecting and treating ourselves from the effect of deadly illnesses. This stem cell research by C'elle provides women with a safe and easy method of collecting and preserving stem cells found in women's menstrual fluid. These cells are processed and stored at a very low temperature for potential cellular therapies in the future and may even be used for sports, medicine and treatments as well as anti-aging therapies.
What most women don't know is that they possess the key to possibly treating some life-threatening diseases that their parents, siblings or even their kids as well as themselves may have in the future such as heart disease, osteoporosis, stroke, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases. That key is in their own body - in vital stem cells which can now be collected from women's menstrual blood.
Still having doubts and questions? The C'elle Client Testimonial video would at least give you a glimpse and can help guide you on what to do further. From there, you will also get the chance to know more about C'elle, the research, etc...
Don't you think it's time to enable ourselves to take control not only our own future health but as well as our family's health?

Exploring Niagara Falls

We started the day going to Niagara Falls State Park (New York), which was just 20 minutes from our hotel. There are lots of parking spaces in front of the Gateway to The Falls Building but may be a little bit challenging to find a parking spot during the weekends. From the parking, it's a walking distance (about 5 minutes walk) going to the actual falls area. It is captivating.

At the other side of the falls is the Canada side, and only 25 miles away crossing the border.

Sharing you some of the photos while having fun at the falls. Plus some good shots of the beautiful sceneries.

Amazing Domestic Seafood Recipe

I would always love eating! :)...at least even my husband would tell me, eating is my hobby. Well, I agree with him :).
When it comes to seafoods, I love shrimps the most! Any kind of cooking will do. And talking about a very simple domestic seafood dish that I would like to create and eat, I would love it a grilled shrimp with a garlic sauce on it! I can then pair it with rice mixed with vegetables. Now, that's what you call a hearty meal! lol!
As long as it is shrimp, I would love to cook it in any variations, be it cooked plainly fried, it always looks mouth-watering to me. But I think the best pair for any cooked shrimp particularly if it's grilled or fried is the garlic sauce. Most people love garlic, if not all. A grilled shrimp with garlic sauce can actually be very ideal for a picnic party...I was a witness to that by the way, and I was one of those who feasted on those garlic grilled shrimps :).
I am always excited to witness the 5th Annual Great American Seafood Cook off in New Orleans on August 2 and 3. I am far from the event, so I am just wishing they can do it live on TV. I am sure everybody will never go starving watching the 14 chefs compete on stage with their action packed seafood specialties and the exciting must see event for guest chefs' cooking demonstrations. This event creates positiveness of domestic seafood sustainability. Well, who do you think will be the next King of American Seafood??...will it be from Maryland? :).
